What happens during counseling?
First Session-The first session entails gathering all registration paperwork, reviewing confidentiality and other policies, and getting to know you. Our licensed therapist will ask a lot of questions, all designed to get a better picture of who you are. We will also begin to hear your story and what brings you to counseling.

Second Session-We continue to learn more about your challenges and together, we begin to formulate a TREATMENT PLAN. It includes 2-3 goals, the steps needed to accomplish the goals, and who will be responsible.

Additional Sessions-At an agreed upon day and time of the week, we will meet weekly to implement the treatment plan. This plan can be changed at any time, especially when goals are being met. Together, we decide the length of counseling and the frequency as well. Weekly appointment are recommended in the beginning and can be adjusted as goals are met.

How long will I need to see you?
The length of counseling depends on the client. The reason for coming to counseling and participation level really impacts the length of treatment. We meet for 50 minutes a week, the rest of the week if where the work and progress happen. Some people feel better in 6 weeks, others 12 weeks, some need support longer. It’s really based on you and customized to your experience.

How do I set up an appointment?
There is a 15 minute consult where we discuss your reasons for seeking counseling and begin to gather information about you. The best way to do that is to call (941) 800-1513 during our business hours or schedule your first appointment yourself HERE.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
